Joel Culpepper’s ‘Return / W.A.R’ is an interesting piece taken from his debut album, Sgt Culpepper. Here, the release is accompanied by a visually sublime short film, directed by Leo Horsfield. The film connects the funk-filled ‘Return’ and ‘W.A.R’ with a concept that blends Jackie Brown and The Matrix. We saw Culpepper himself taken through a variety of landscapes, from a recording studio, to an open-top car, to a variety of London roofs, with the ultimate goal being to represent the idea of a looming weight on the lives of everyone.
